Emilien Blaise is a master papier-mâché artist. From the age of 8 he knew he wanted to be an artist. He loves everything about the work, from designing new bowls and placemats and to learning about business accounting and marketing. He is a member of the Association Developman Artisana de Soud–Est (ADASE) and manages a workshop that employs 5-10 people depending on orders. Twice a week he teaches classes for children through a local arts school. Every year he designs papier-mâché masks for the Carnival parade in Jacmel and participates in arts festivals throughout the country.
